DIDCOT Town’s brave run in the FA Trophy was ended last night as Jon Parkin’s hat-trick gave Forest Green Rovers a 3-0 victory in their first-round replay.

The Railwaymen produced a sensational fightback on Saturday to score twice late on and snatch a 2-2 draw having trailed 2-0.

But although Didcot put up another battling display at the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow Stadium, Parkin proved the difference.

The Forest Green striker put the hosts on the back foot after just seven minutes when he caught James Foster off his line and lobbed the Didcot keeper from 45 yards.

The hosts should have levelled when Sam Elkins crossed, but John Mills could not get the crucial touch.

Josh Dutton-Black was then adjudged to have fouled Frear in the box and Parkin made no mistake to double Forest Green’s lead.

Didcot looked for a reply after the break, but an Andy Ballard effort went just wide.

And from the goal kick, the ball was played forward and Chris Stokes’s cross was tapped home by Parkin for his hat-trick.

Didcot Tn: Foster, Elkins, Organ, Ballard (Williams 69), Carnell, Learoyd, Dutton-Black, Clark (Self HT), Mills, Haysham, Longford (Brooks 60). Subs not used: Baines, Woodley.

Attendance: 391.

  •  BANBURY United missed the chance to record victory in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division last night after being held to a 2-2 home draw by Biggleswade.

Jon Woolf put the visitors ahead, but a Steve Gentle own goal levelled matters.

Cam Mawer was then sent off for Biggleswade, but Jacob Walcott saw his resulting penalty saved.

Tom Ryan headed Banbury in front, but Josh Beech then equalised for the ten men.
