Oxfordshire bowed out of the ESFA PlayStation Under 14 Inter County Trophy with a 3-1 defeat by Bedfordshire in the second round at Kempston Rovers.

A defence-splitting pass allowed Drew Richardson to give Bedfordshire the lead, but Oxfordshire equalised after 30 minutes.

Tom Rolfe, who had just come on to the field as a substitute, beat a defender and brilliantly chipped the ball into the net, only to be injured in the ensuing collision with the goalkeeper, and took no further part.

Oxfordshire fell behind again when Kai Phelan flicked home a corner at the near post, and Dylan Asonganyi added the third with five minutes remaining.

VALE of White Horse Under 13s’ depleted squad was no match for Cheltenham as they slipped to a 7-2 defeat against Cheltenham in the Vale Cup at Winchcombe School.

Owen Armstrong scored twice for Vale after the break.
