Tower Hill Ladies ended Banbury United’s eight-match unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory at Spencer Stadium in Southern Region League Northern Division 1 on Sunday.

Goals from Samantha Bevan-Talbot and Carly Thomas won it for the impressive visitors.

Tower Hill started the stronger and their pressure was rewarded on 20 minutes when Bevan-Talbot broke clear on the left and avoided several challenges before slotting the ball sweetly into the net.

Sarah Snowdon and Sophie Grimson went close to adding top their tally, while at the other end Tower keeper Mel Gilbert pulled off a couple of fine saves.

Tower maintained their grip on the contest after the break, but they failed to find the net.

And they were grateful to Gilbert who made a brilliant save to tip a long-range shot around a post.

Tower Hill retook control and three minutes from time victory was sealed when Thomas fired home after a shot from Bevan-Talbot was deflected into her path.
