Kennington Club bounced back from their defeat at Didcot Conservative Club with a 5-0 home win over Marlborough Club to regain top spot in the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford League Premier Section, writes PETE EWINS.

Brian Rose (7,910, break 6,050), Kevin Godfrey (8,750, break 8,220), Mark Trafford (12,670, break 9,600), Steven Sheard (8,830, break 5,000) and Ian Gordon completed the rout.

Vikings were knocked off the top after crashing to a 3-2 home defeat against Section 1 leaders Didcot.

Paul Lawson (4,630) and Jenny Florey, with two wins, shone for Didcot, with Alan Oliver (7,530) and Bob Allsworth replying.

West Oxford Democrats Club won 3-2 at home to Gladiators Club A.

Eddie Tebby (5,060), Billy Hill (3,620) and John Patey (7,340) were their victors, while Keith Gardner (3,840) and in-form Bert Lovegrove (6,330) picked up Gladiators’ points.

Masons ran out 3-2 winners at Gladiators B Martyn Wood (5,310), Tim Curry (3,180) and Alan Lowe starred for Masons, with Phil Clark and Grant Johnson replying.
