WANTAGE Town came through a nail-biting Under 13 League Cup first round tie, beating visitors Crowmarsh on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Daisey Grover put the home side in front after 17 minutes, but their lead was short-lived as Kate Challenger’s attempted clearance was sliced into her own net.

Neither side was able to add to the scoreline in either regular or extra time despite a host of chances, but it was Town who booked their place in the next round with a 3-1 shoot-out win.

They took the lead through Isabelle Henthorn and went to make it safe after the break when Annie Dennis scored and Henthorn grabbed her second.

Ruby Colleton hit a hat-trick to help Carterton Town to a 5-0 home victory over Launton in Group D of the Under 12 League Cup.

Katie Gough and Nicole Edmonds also found the net for the hosts.

Stonesfield Strikers also made a perfect start to their campaign with a 5-0 win at home to Kidlington.

Rosie Ihringer struck twice and there were further goals from Rachel Appleton and Emma Saville, as well as an own goal.

Lilly Harries scored twice and Grace Richards and Jessie Richard also netted to send Oxford City through to the quarter-finals of the Under 11 League Cup with a 4-2 first-round home win over Wantage Town.
