Oxfordshire’s first team lead Division 3 Central of the Senior County Championship after an emphatic 11-4 win over Derbyshire 2nd.
The top-of-the-table clash was expected to be a tight-fought encounter, but a superb display from the hosts at Bartholomew Sports Centre, Eynsham, saw them romp to victory.
Oxon got off to a good start with James Buffham, Jack Smith and Lauren Cooper all picking up singles wins.
And they soon sealed victory when Buffham and Alistair Reed, as well as Jack Smith and Matthew Harris won all four men’s doubles matches, to add to a win apiece from Cooper and Sarah Torgersen Jones and Amber Wing and Kathryn Schutterlin.

Oxfordshire secured a maximum three points when Reed and Cooper, followed by Harris and Torgersen-Jones won their mixed matches.
Oxfordshire 3rd extended their lead at the top of Division 5 Central with an impressive 12-3 success over Somerset, also at Bartholomew Sports Centre Jack Bird maintained his unbeaten record and with Rob Pace and Dan Blair making their first senior appearances, it was a great day for Oxon, who picked up maximum points.
