OXFORD United worked right the way up to yesterday’s loan deadline as they completed four deals.

As expected, striker John Campbell’s move from Jarrow Roofing was rubber-stamped in the morning.

He was not the only addition to United’s attacking unit, with Wes Burns brought in from Sky Bet League One leaders Bristol City until the end of the season.

U’s boss Michael Appleton said: “Will Hoskins is still a few weeks away from playing and James Roberts is out for the next three or four weeks, so we needed to strengthen up front.

  • Latest United news:

“The fact that Wes can play in two or three positions across the front line is a massive bonus.”

The exits were not confirmed until after the 5pm deadline.

Junior Brown left to join Mansfield Town until the new year, while Freddie Grant signed for Vanarama South side Farnborough on work experience.

Appleton said: “A chance to play matches up at Mansfield will hopefully give Junior a chance to show what he can do.”
