Oxford City could give a debut to former Lincoln City midfielder Mamadou Fofana at Stalybridge Celtic for today’s Vanarama Conference North clash.

The 26-year-old Frenchman, who made 49 appearances for the Imps, scoring one goal, had spells as French sides CS Sedan, Olympique Noisy-le-Sec and La Vitréenne FC, before playing in Sweden for Syrianska, is added to City’s squad.

Fofana made his last Imps appearance on January 22 in the 2-2 draw at home to Woking.

“Mamadou is a powerful lad, who can play in central midfield or centre back,” said City’s general manager Justin Merritt.

“He wins lots of second balls and can pass really well.

“We were looking for a bit more balance in the team. We are scoring and conceding lots of goals, and that’s not just down to the defence and the strikers.

“He’s got the experience of playing in the Conference. He’s a very good footballer, but he’s a bit more defensively orientated.”

Merritt added: “He won’t be starting at Stalybridge, but he will be on the bench.”

Meanwhile, Clevedon Town will hold a 9am pitch inspection ahead of today’s home clash with Wantage Town in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.
