Izzy Lingard, from Headington School, and Falcon Rowing Club’s Emily Tadesse shone at the Henley Sculls Head of the River Race, writes John Wiggins Lingard staked her claim for international recognition by triumphing in the women’s senior single sculls.

This put her in a confident position ahead of next week’s Great Britain junior trials.

She was also in the Headington intermediate 1 quad that was the fastest women’s boat of the day when, sadly, they were unopposed.

Clear victories were claimed by Headington in the women’s IM3 quad (Rhiannon Smith, Maya Nickituk, Victoire Lienau and Sophie Simister) and in the under 16 quad (Matilda Burn, Isabel Rundle, Rosie Little and Katie King-Smith).
