Ardley United began the defence of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup with a 6-0 rout of visitors Carterton in the first round on Saturday.

Carterton, who play in Hellenic League Division 1 East had no answer to their Premier Division opponents and trailed 4-0 at the break.

Ricky Johnson opened the scoring a goals followed from Luke Ingram, Ben Thomas and Chris Jackson.

With Diego Petriaggi a constant threat, Ardley added further goals through Kieran Scott and Adam Beckett.

Reece Bayliss went closest for Carterton when his lobbed shot came back off a post.

Hellenic League side Headington Amateurs saw off mid-table Oxfordshire Senior League outfit Marston Saints 2-1 thanks to goals from Luke Cuff and Paul Hedger.

Old Woodstock Town beat previously-unbeaten Senior League side Oxford University Press 4-1 with four second-half goals.

There were pair of penalties from Rob Keylock plus efforts from Jack Heap and Jack Dunmall.

Thame United defeated fellow Hellenic League visitors North Leigh United 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out after the teams had drawn 1-1.
