Josh Shama is back from injury as struggling Banbury United bid to make home advantage count against Marine in the FA Trophy second qualifying round tomorrow.

The on-loan Oxford United striker returns after missing Banbury’s last three games with an ankle injury.

He came safely through Oxford’s development squad game against Reading on Tuesday.

Tom Ryan is also included after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a broken leg, but Ben Whitehead is cup-tied.

Marine are third bottom in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division – the equivalent level in the non-League pyramid to Banbury – having not won away this season.

And Banbury boss Paul Davis said: “It is an opportunity for people to go and prove themselves, and to step up.”

But he warned they shouldn’t read anything into Marine’s position.

“The Northern Premier League is much harder,” he said. “The teams are more equal and much of a muchness. We cannot take much notice of the standings. It is all about how you play on the day.”

Davis added that Banbury were still waiting to hear if there would be any repercussions from the bottle-throwing incident at their home league game against Slough Town.

Didcot Town also face opposition of the same level as they visit Uxbridge, who are 17th in Division 1 Central of the Evo-Stik Southern League.

Joint manager Ian Concannon is confident the Railwaymen can add to their impressive away form, which has helped them climb to third in Division 1 South & West. He said: “If we are at our best then we will give ourselves a good chance. We are going down there to win it.

“We like going on our travels and have put in good performances.

“There is a real togetherness about us and we always look like scoring goals. We just need to be a little tighter at the back. ”

Concannon added that they were in talks with a midfielder, but felt that if the signing went ahead it wouldn’t be completed in time for the player to be involved tomorrow.
