Oxford's Mara Yamauchi showed she is not taking her retirement too lightly with an impressive display at the Cabbage Patch 10 in Twickenham.

The 2009 London Marathon runner-up, who is now 41, was the fourth lady home in the high standard ten-mile race.

Racing for her club Harrow, Yamauchi had not competed for more than a year, but clocked 57mins 55secs to finish 35th.

ALCHESTER’S Jenny McBain was the first lady home at the Buckingham 10K.

McBain completed the course in 39mins 2secs to come in seventh overall.

OXFORD City’s Heath Bampton won the vet 45 title at the British Masters Half Marathon Championships.

The event took place as part of the Salisbury Half Marathon, with Bampton finishing sixth overall in 1hr 17mins 50secs.
