Bradley Smith rode an unforgettable race today to clinch his best ever MotoGP result and a debut podium at the Tissot Australian Grand Prix.

Starting fourth on the grid, the Tech 3 rider from Beckley near Oxford, charged up to third at the end of the first lap.

And although some aggressive driving from his rivals saw the 23-year-old drop to eighth, he regained his composure to move back to fifth after passing Andrea Dovizioso.

He then regained third place a position he never relinquished as he secured his first podium finish since Mugello in 2011 in the Moto2 class.

The race was won by Valentino Rossi, with Jorge Lorenzo second.
