Oxford duo Vicky Harrison and Patricia Strange picked up a share of the £3,000 first prize after winning the Warner Leisure Hotels Open Fours Champion of Champions competition held at Lakeside Coastal Village, Hayling Island.

The Oxford City and County IBC members qualified for the nationwide finals after winning an open fours competition at Bembridge Coast Hotel.

However, playing partners Peter Woodville and Virginia Hulbert were unable to attend the three-day final so Harrison and Strange found themselves playing with Pat and Tony Bourne, from Croydon, who were in the same situation with half of their team unavailable.

The quartet won their group of six and two more successes saw them into the final to face Terry Hill’s rink from Wey Valley (Guildford).
