Banbury United boss Paul Davis says the Southern League Premier Division club want to re-play Saturday’s match at Truro again, but do not expect the Football Association to agree.

Banbury were leading 1-0 when a case of mistaken identity saw Tom Fishwick wrongly sent off for a supposed second booking, when it was Jack Westbrook who received the first yellow card.

The Puritans lost the contest 4-1 and want a re-match.

Although Fishwick was allowed to play in Tuesday’s 3-2 win at Dunstable, after the FA rescinded the second yellow card, Davis is still fuming over the incident.

“The referee has apologised and sent an e-mail to the club, but it doesn’t change the result, which is so frustrating,” said Davis.

“We’re not expecting the game to be played again, but if it is then it won’t be 4-1,” said Davis.

“If the result is allowed to stand then so be it, but the FA are fully aware of what went on.

“Our secretary has been in regular contact with them.”

Davis, though, was delighted by his players’ reaction at Dunstable.

He added: “We got the decision out of our system on the coach journey back from Truro.

“We had a game-plan against Dunstable and the players executed it perfectly.

“Truro was a phantom result. “We drew with St Neots and have beaten Dunstable and people are starting to take us seriously.”

Meanwhile, Banbury give a late fitness test to Aidan Hawtin (ankle) ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Arlesey.

Banbury Utd (v Arlesey Tn, home): from Bedwell, Cray, Mzungwana, Fishwick, Westbrook, Howards, Hawtin, Shama, Walcott, Browne, Katsoloudi, Houston, Tappin, Ryan, Wickham, Murombedzi.
