HENLEY Hawks went top of the table after scoring six tries in a 43-17 victory at Lydney.

Fly half Ed Yarnton fed centre Simon Perry for Henley’s opening try – the first of a hat-trick for the player promoted from the second team.

Hawks’ second was a penalty try after Lydney illegally brought down a driving maul.

Yarnton converted both before opposite number Brad Barnes landed a penalty.

Perry finished a flowing move, with Yarnton converting for 21-3.

The centre completed his treble after the break, having been played in by Yarnton, while home No 8 Liam Jackson was yellow-carded.

Lydney hit back, with Barnes breaking to score and convert his own try.

Replacement Conor Murphy kicked a penalty for Henley and then converted flanker Tom Hall’s try.

Lock Dave Bennett went over for Lydney, with Barnes converting, but they had replacement Jordan Fowke red-carded for headbutting.

Hawks had the final say, with centre Dan Barnes touching down for Murphy to convert.

Chinnor were pipped 23-22 at home to Dorking, with scrum half Reece Boughton missing a match-winning conversion.

The hosts were left to rue another slow start and their experiment to rotate backline positions backfired, with several passes going astray.

Boughton put Chinnor ahead with a penalty, but Matt Noble’s try, converted by Fraser Macdonald and Cameron Pimlow’s penalty saw Dorking lead 10-3.

Wing Reuben Haile went over for Chinnor on 44 minutes, with Boughton converting, but Macdonald did the same to Will Crow’s try.

It was 17-17 when full back Ed Keohane went over for Boughton to convert.

Two penalties from Noble in the 64th and 72nd minutes put Dorking ahead 23-17.

With full time approaching, Chinnor replacement Robbie Martey scored in the corner, but Boughton’s conversion sailed wide.
