HOSTS Harwell Labs made it five wins in six years, when they beat Bucklebury in the final of the Yorkshire Cup, organised by the Newbury & District LTA.
Harwell men’s pair of Matthew Davies and Oliver Godwin gave their side a good start beating Garrath Reayner and Andy Bowsher 6-4 The ladies partnership of Alice Atkins and Kathryn Schutterlin won 6-1 against Lisa Saunders and Helen Raynes.
Each mixed pair then played a set against each opposing mixed pair, with Atkins and Davies winning 6-1, 6-3, while Schutterlin and Godwin triumphing 6-1, 6-1.
The match score was 36-11 games to Harwell, adjusted to 48-17 after applying the handicap, resulting in Harwell receiving the trophy from Peter Smith who donated the cup in 1966.
