Rhys Crane says London Welsh are out to prove their doubters wrong in the Aviva Premiership this season.

Welsh are the bookies’ favourites to be relegated straight back to the Championship, despite recruiting heavily over the summer.

Wing Crane has previous top-flight experience with Bath and Sale and is delighted to be back there.

“We know we are going to be up against it, but we are relishing the challenge,” he said.

“The guys are chomping at the bit.

“We have got to change people’s preconceptions about London Welsh.

“Hopefully we can change a few minds and attract some more fans as well.”

Crane overcame a severe hamstring injury to feature for Welsh in their play-off final victory over Bristol.

Now he is hoping to play more of a regular role.

“I’m just thankful I have got through pre-season, but I will still take it a week at a time,” said Crane.

“Everyone will get their opportunity, you have just got to take it with both hands when it comes.

“It will be great to be back in the Premiership.”
