Abingdon Town marked their return to the North Berks Leaguee after 75 years with a 4-2 victory over Wallingford Town in Division 1, writes Phil Annets.

In the past this had been an Hellenic League encounter, but both clubs have slipped down the football pyramid.

John Mills struck twice late on to clinch the points for the hosts.

Wallingford had trailed 2-0 at the break to Rob Cattell's early spot-kick and Tomas Parker’s effort on the stroke of half-time.

Ashley Searle’s penalty and Pete Vallance’s 25-yard drive levelled for Wallingford before Mills’s late strikes.

Long Wittenham Ath-letic subjected new boys Watlington Town to a 3-1 defeat.

Eliot Harper netted the visitors’ first North Berks goal, but strikes from Callum Bowler, Tim Barton and Andy Cooper ensured a winning start for Wittenham.

Faringdon Town were beaten 2-0 at champions Kint-bury Rangers, whose goals came from Adam Drake and Shaun Thorpe.

Berinsfield went down 2-1 at home to Ardington & Lockinge.

Ollie O’Hanlon and Luke Williams netted for the visitors, with Brian Rawlings on the scoresheet for Berinsfield.

Goals from Marlon Williams and Josh Nicholls gave Dorchester a 2-0 victory at Saxton Rovers.

Harry Routledge’s late equaliser earned newly-promoted Drayton a 1-1 draw at home to Crowmarsh Gifford after Daryl Franklin had put the visitors in front.

Westminster started life as a Division 2 side with a 2-1 win at Sutton Courtenay.

Tom Whitehead and Jason Hillis were on target for the visitors, with Callum Stewart netting for Sutton.

Brad Gill and Dwayne Carleton’s strikes gave Stanford in the Vale a 2-0 home victory over Lambourn Sports.

Union Street were held to a 3-3 draw at home to Hanney United in their first Division 3 game since transferring from the Oxford City FA.

James Cummings (2) and Declan Mills were on target for the hosts, but their efforts were cancelled out by strikes from Andy Hope, Joe Rich-ardson and James Carline.

Grove Rangers lost 3-1 at home to Turnpike Sports.

Matt Cramp scored for the hosts, but Luke Johnson’s double and an Ashley Pike goal won it for Turnpike.
