Cowley Internationals secured their first success in the OCA’s Airey Cup when they defeated Great Horwood by three wickets in a tight final at Stonesfield on Sunday.

Richard Burton was the star for Cowley in this delayed match which had been due to be played on Bank Holiday Monday.

Horwood, batting first, struggled, mainly in the face of tight bowling from Burton (4-24), closing their innings on 136-9.

Cowley opener Brian Barrett top-scored with 40 as their response began brightly.

But a fine spell of 5-40 from Neil Wilkins pegged them back before man-of-the-match Burton (22 not out) shepherded his side across the line on 137-7.

It has been a successful season for Cowley, who are still in with slight chance of taking the Division 1 title, in their first season after gaining promotion to the top flight.

Westbury stay top of Division 1 after edging Chadlington by one wicket.

Requiring 165, the defending champions’ reply was built around Ben Rae’s 66. However, it was left to last man Charlie Harper (17no) to hit the winning run with one ball left.

Cowley Internationals are in pursuit after they topped Oxenford’s 177-3.

Despite Aaron Hirtenstein’s 5-48, the job was completed by tailender Jason Lowe.

Third-placed Minster Lovell enjoyed a ten-wicket win.

Jack Simpson’s 5-13 helped skittle visiting Great Horwood for 76 before Nathan Harris’s 48no led his side in.

Basement side Hook Norton registered their second success of the campaign at Garsington.

After dismissing the hosts for 73, Hooky’s Tom Bartlett hit 57no as the target was reached for three wickets.

A superb 4-3 from Bimalka Liyanarachchi and 3-37 by Hasula Prematilaka kept Shrivenham to 88.

Despite losing early wickets, Charlbury’s Josh Hornsby, hit 35 to secure victory by five wickets. Radley need a point to win Division 2 after defeating Chipping Norton.

Atif Liaquat spearheaded their attack with 5-28 as Chippy were bowled out for 108. Matt Launchbury (41no) then sealed the points by four wickets.

Sean Holley’s 5-39 kept Clifton Hampden to 168-6. His Stonesfield colleague Tim Wyatt then compiled 78 not out to seal the win. Julian Chaundy struck 33 and took 3-18 but Combe fell five runs short of Broughton and North Newington’s 126. Watlington posted 208-9 at East & West Hendred, Dave Hanford contributing 74. However, Ian Clewley’s 79 not out saw the home team to an eight-wicket win. Ian Oglesby made 79 of Faringdon’s 119-9. It was in vain though, as Tetsworth won by three wickets. Chesterton returned to the top of Division 3 after ending Marsh Gibbon’s recent good run.

After routing the visitors for 65, Lee Price taking 5-25, Chesterton reached the target with only one wicket down. Wantage reached 160-2 in the 40th over to win at Fringford. Mike Konschel added 49 to his earlier 3-21 in the home side’s 159-8. Elliott Braggins (4-12) and Mark Horne (4-30) held hosts Westcott to 102. Kieran Foggett then made 56no in Witney Swifts’ eight-wicket win. Mark Weller’s 4-28 helped Eynsham knock over Wolvercote for 121. This was in reply to the home side’s 184-6.

Hanborough maintained their march to the Division 4 crown with 132-run defeat of visitors Marcham.

Neil Rose hit 102 in their 222 before Jonathon Ayris (3-21) and Will Potter (3-18) helped dump their opponents for 92.

A belligerent 112 not out from Andy Oliver got Kidlington up to 256-4 at West Ilsley.

Dan Farrant, with 7-20, was then the principal antagonist in the hosts’ 73 all out.

In Division 5, five wickets apiece for Stanton Harcourt’s Louis Pettifer (5-14) and Andrew Walker (5-13) rolled over West Witney for just 28.

Batting first, Ben Lucas hit 56 as title-chasing Stanton racked up 241-8.

Kilkenny stayed in the hunt for honours with a 109 run success at Kennington.

Mykel Ryan (3-34) and Asim Hafeez (3-19) restricted the home team to 117, while earlier, James Barton top-scored with 62 out of 226-7.

Division 6 champions, Sunningwell were shot out for 55 at Westbury 2nd.

With Nick Blithe claiming 7-15. Westbury duly took the honours by a comfortable eight-wicket margin.

Shrivenham 2nd edged a thriller at Hanney. Chasing 245, Adam Taylor made 60 as victory was secured in the final over on 246-6.

Kidlington 2nd are the champions of Division 7 after crushing Tetsworth 2nd.

Craig Woods made 128 as the Stratfield Brake outfit amassed 320-6.

Sam Rodway with 4-8 then led the attack as the visitors were dismissed for 112.

A walk-over handed Cowley Internationals 2nd the title in Division 8.

Sam Walker carried his bat for 103 in Hanborough 2nd’s 212-5. Opponents Chadlington then struggled to 91-9, Adrian Buckingham (3-7) the pick of the bowlers.

In Division 9, Sunningwell 2nd registered just 56 as they welcomed Eynsham 2nd.

Despite 6-31 from Paul Wiggins, the visitors landed the spoils by two wickets.

Bottom side in Division 10, Charlbury 3rd, compiled an impressive 227-8 against Kidlington 3rd, Johnathan Florey contributing 118.

They then bowled out the visitors for 122.
