Goodlake Arms’s hopes of winning the Men’s Greene King ODDA Summer League Premier Section title suffered a massive blow when they crashed 9-0 on a sensational night at Windrush Social Club.

This was the first time the reigning champions had been whitewashed.

Windrush captain Michael Kearns inspired his side when he defeated Kevin Wilkes in the first game, hitting two max-imums and a producing a 101 finish.

Led by their skipper’s example, Colin Bligdon, Pete Eagle, Alan Bowman, Ryan Bull and Jim Ellis all won their singles matches to give Windrush a stunning 6-0 lead.

The home side were in no mood to let up the onslaught and a 3-0 pairs success completed Good-lake’s humiliation.

Premier pacesetters Kidlington Green Social Club B were pushed all the way before scraping home 5-4 away to Section 1 leaders Peachcroft Social Club.

In Section 2, George Bar C won 7-2 at Cricketers Arms A.

Victories from Mark Moss, maximum man Keith Ballard (180) and Martin Atherton gave the visitors a 3-0 advantage.

Cricketers pulled one game back when Mark Simmonds beat Carl Church, but wins from Dan Jones and Graham Newbold gave the visitors a 5-1 cushion, which they extended by taking the pairs 2-1.

East Oxford Conservative Club took a 3-0 lead in their Section 3 match at home to Cricketers Arms C in style with wins from Robert Boyce, Ade Bowden and David Hopkins.

The visitors hit back to level at 3-3 through Tony Sawyer, Alan Hunter and Steve McCorley.

But the Conservatives would not be denied and a 3-0 pairs victory saw them home 6-3.

In Section 6, Chequers Inn B led 2-0 at Prince of Wales B thanks to wins from Benji Cuff and Ian Gill.

After Prince levelled through Wayne Cox and Gary Cox, the visitors edged ahead at 3-2 when Hardy Jenkins defeated Will Jones.

The hosts made it 3-3 when Paul West beat Steve Geddes, but the Chequers had the final say and eased to a 6-3 win, Section 8 leaders Littlemore Rugby Club B made it six wins from six games, and went nine points clear of their rivals, when they romped home 8-1 against Prince of Wales.
