Ashley Hubbert said it was an unbelievable feeling to have made a Lord’s final with Great & Little Tew in the Davidstow Village Cup.

Hubbert, whose 58 not out led Tew to a nine-wicket victory at Dinton in yesterday’s semi-final, could not hide his delight at reaching the home of cricket.

“It feels pretty good to me, it’s unbelievable,” he said.

“You try not to think about it when you are out there playing, but it’s always at the back of your mind.

“To be able to take the team home in the semi-final for a place at Lord's, it’s an amazing feeling.”

Tew, who will now play Yorkshire’s Woodhouse Grange in the final on Sunday, September 7, bowled Dinton out for 120.

This meant openers Hubbert and Joe White just needed to bat steadily to set up the chase.

“The message was to build a solid opening partnership,” said Hubbert.

“That took the game away from them and demoralised them.”
