Oxford City Stars will again host some of their greatest players when the fourth Norman Elliott Memorial Game takes place on Sunday.

Elliott worked at the Oxpens Road ice rink for more than 20 years until his death in 2011 and was a hugely popular rink manager.

The majority of Stars’ National Ice Hockey League Division 2 double-winning side will be there, as well as several past legends Robin Lindva, the Swedish netminder who played for the Stars in the 2010/11 season is one, as well as Andrew Shurmer, the hard-hitting defenceman who played for Stars from 2008-12.

In attack will be the Stars’ top-three points-scorers of all time.

Dan Prachar racked up 737 points in his eight years at the club, while Scott Gough is the club’s all-time British points scorer with 589 in 222 games.

The trio are completed by Stars’ current player/coach Darren Elliott, Norman’s son, who is expecting an eventful evening.

“It’s always an emotional night for myself and my family,” he said.

“But this event has turned into a real celebration of both Norman and Oxford ice hockey.

“We’ve had some great games in the past and I’m sure that this one will be another classic.”

Face-off is at 5pm on Sunday, with admission at £7 for adults and £4 for concessions.

Meanwhile, Oxford City Stars have secured RJS Waste Management as one of their ten shirt sponsors for next season.

Managing director Russell Shrives said: “I have been supporting Oxford City Stars since the year they were founded in 1984.

“I have followed the Stars keenly ever since.”
