  • "Another waste of space, like Melville has done he should leave thru the exit door and never return. We need modern forward thinking coaches who will drag this club kicking and screaming into the modern era. Despite the fact we only used 23 players our wage bill is still far too high for a League 2 club and unless the club unloads a lot of the deadwood, which it hasn't so far we will continue to fester and not prosper and move forward. The stadium rent also needs addressing and unless it is we will never get a decent squad capable of winning things. The future of the football club worries me and nobody from the Chairman down appears to be doing anything to sort matters out."

Wayne Brown will be part of Oxford United’s coaching staff next season after signing a new contract.

The 37-year-old’s existing deal, which was as a player/coach, was due to expire this summer.

He will no longer be part of the playing staff, but has signed a two-year agreement to stay as United’s goalkeeping coach.

U’s head coach Gary Waddock said: “I think Wayne’s done very well and he’s got very good contacts.”

Brown will continue to oversee the development of senior professionals Ryan Clarke and Max Crocombe, but is also believed to be keen to make improvements in the goalkeeping department.
