ABINGDON’S Eddie Pepperell produced a super display in golf’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this weekend.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a superb four-under-par 68 in Saturday’s third round, to leave him joint seventh going into the final round.

And although Pepperell was not able to match those heroics yesterday, his one-over-par round of 73 saw him finish tied 21st.

It earned the Frilford Heath member around £43,000 in prize money.

The event was won by Rory McIlroy, clinched his first European Tour title since 2012 with a one-shot victory.

The 25-year-old carded a six-under-par 66 to beat Shane Lowry, having started seven shots off the lead.

Thomas Bjorn blew a six-shot advantage early on to finish in third, alongside Luke Donald.
