Tim Jarvis, son of Alan Jarvis, has had his application for a training licence turned down by the British Horseracing Authority.

Jarvis senior, who is based at Twyford, near Bicester, lost his permission to train under the BHA’s ‘fit and proper person’ rule relating to an £868,366 debt owed to Doncaster Bloodstock Sales Ltd, and is operating on a temporary licence.

The family had hoped that Tim Jarvis would be able to take out a licence of his own having passed all the required modules.

But the BHA has decided not to issue him with the required documentation.

Tim Jarvis has appealed against the decision, with a date for this hearing to be confirmed.

Jarvis snr has applied to have his temporary licence extended, as it is due to expire on Sunday, until his son’s appeal has been heard. This hearing will take place on Thursday.

The BHA declined to reveal the reasons for Tim Jarvis’s application being turned down while the issue is ongoing.

Alan Jarvis opted not to comment pending today’s hearing.
