OAKLEY United were crowned Premier Division champions for the first time after winning 6-0 at Mansfield Road – the only side who could deny them the crown.

Kieron Schmidt led the way with a hat-trick as Oakley dominated the midweek clash.

Aaron Rogers, Ben Gray and a great finish from Rob Goldney sealed the spoils just three days after they lifted the President’s Cup.

They were brought back down to earth on Saturday, however, when Max Martini scored the only goal as third-placed Freeland completed the double over Oakley.

Mansfield Road secured the runners-up spot after a 5-3 comeback victory at Chalgrove.

James Watkins scored twice as Mansfield recovered from three goals down.

Third-bottom Chalgrove burst into a 3-0 lead. Nick Skiller’s double in the opening 20 minutes rocked the visitors, who trailed further when Simon Godfrey added a penalty.

But a spot-kick at the other end, converted by Dan Trinder on the stroke of half-time, gave Mansfield hope.

The second half belonged to the visitors, who stormed back through Watkins’s double, plus goals from Luis McGillycuddy and Henry Morgan to ensure they will finish second.

Another lead was frittered away by Adderbury Park as they were pegged back to 2-2 at home to Horspath.

Gavin Connor and Josh Bowden put the hosts in control, but Aaron Laman and Jordan Reid struck in the second half to share the spoils.

George Seacole hit a hat-trick on Thursday night as Freeland Res romped to a 6-0 home win over Stonesfield Res in Division 2.

Tom Gerken (2) and Stuart Hole were also on target as Freeland pipped their opponents to the runners-up spot on goal difference.
