Joe White shone with bat and ball as Great & Little Tew recorded a six-wicket win at home to Horspath in the first round.

White took 2-26 from his nine overs to help restrict Horspath to 175-8 after the visitors were put into bat.

And then he made 49 at the top of the order as Tew chased down the runs with 3.2 overs to spare.

Andy Wynd was the only Horspath batsman to make a real impact with an unbeaten 60 at around a run a ball.

White and fellow opener, 14-year-old Jordan Garrett (46), then laid the foundations for the hosts’ victory, before Harry Smith (31no) steered Tew home, with Robbie Catling (25) providing good support.

Skipper Will Eason was the pick of the Horspath bowlers, conceding just 20 runs from his nine overs.

Tew are now away to Cropredy – who thrashed Kingston Bagpuize by nine wickets – in the Oxfordshire quarter-finals on Sunday.

Oxon champions Tiddington won on run rate at Challow & Childrey in a rain-affected match the previous weekend.

Will Cooper (73) and Jon Talbot (63) starred as Tiddington made 210-6 off their 40 overs, Ollie Dymbylow taking 3-55.

Challow were 125-5 off 27 overs, with Neil Smith taking 3-38, when the match was finally called off as it was too dark, leaving Tiddington winners on run rate.

Tiddington are now at home to Shrivenham.
