8:00am Wednesday 30th April 2014 in Sport
PAUL Powell hit a hat-trick as Wallingford Town Res were crowned AG Kingham Cup champions with a 7-2 victory over Berinsfield Res at Wantage Town’s Alfredian Park, writes PHIL ANNETS.
Martin Dawson (2), Ashley Searle and Richard Knight were also on target, while Charlie Jamieson and Jon Welch netted for Berinsfield.
Ardington & Lockinge were beaten 5-3 after extra time by fellow Division 1 title-chasers Kintbury Rangers in the Charity Shield final.
Charlie Allsop, who finished with a four-timer, scored twice for Kintbury in regular time.
But Ardington drew level, through Tom Rowe and an own goal.
Rowe again equalised after Shaun Thorpe had put Rangers ahead in extra time, but after Adam Hogan missed a penalty for Ardington, Allsop notched two more.
Keeper Chris Dales was the unlikely hero for Westminster after scoring a last-minute equaliser to earn his side a 3-3 draw at Stanford in the Vale in North Berks League Division 3.
Brad Gill, Taylor Gill and Jamie Gregory scored for the hosts.
But a Josh Bourton brace kept Westminster in touch before Dales popped up to net the equaliser.
Benson Lions went down 3-1 at home to Burghclere, who are one win away from claiming the title.
Ryan Keightley scored for the Lions, but goals from Chris Miller, Robert O’Hagan and Kye Franklin ensured the leaders took the points.
Matt Woodside bagged four as Hanney United beat Clanfield 85 Res 5-1.
Neil Pimm hit No 5, while Harry Cornforth notched for Clanfield.
Will Vaukins scored five times as Blewbury thrashed Milton United Res 8-3, with Connor Sugden netting twice and Paul Hessey also finding the net for the visitors.
Rhys Griffiths’ hat-trick for the strugglers proved to be in vain.
Faringdon Town Res drew 1-1 at home to East Hendred in Division 2, Jason Evans cancelling out James Bowsher’s effort for the visitors.
In Division 4, goals from Luke Wilkins and Rob Winfield gave Faringdon Town A a 2-1 win at Ardington Res, Ian Bowman replying.
Hagbourne United Res ended their Division 5 season with a 3-2 home win over Didcot Eagles.
Dean McGirr, Dom Lovegrove and Mustapha Jallow scored for the hosts, while Dave Esplin and Gareth Cole bagged Didcot’s goals.
