OXFORD CITY FA
THE George clinched the Premier Cup final after a 3-1 victory over Union Street.
Ricky Anderson hit a double, with Dean Flanagan ensuring victory late on at Oxford City’s Marsh Road ground.
Following an even first half, which saw both teams go close, the deadlock was broken when Anderson was in the right place to convert after Street goalkeeper Ace Edmunds had made a superb stop from Flanagan’s initial shot.
Union Street pressed for an equaliser and were handed a golden opportunity to draw level when they were awarded a penalty.
Andy Davies saw his spot-kick well-saved by Kane Slaymaker, but from the rebound, the ball eventually found its way to Adam Hall, who was on hand to level from close range.
With extra time starting to loom closer, Anderson broke clear to lash home for his second of the game.
And Flanagan made certain of victory with a clinical finish four minutes from time to allow captain Andy Paine to proudly lift the 1892 Trophy.
l IN league action, champions Original Swan beat struggling Masons Arms 2-1.
