CHINNOR’S slim hopes of retaining their Oxford Mail Girls League title were ended with a 3-2 home defeat to Moretonville in the Under 16/17 League.
Despite starting brightly, the hosts found themselves three goals behind early on to a strong counter-attacking Moretonville side, who were clinical going forward.
Tilly Myhill, Vicky Harrold and Kerrie Cope did the damage for the visitors, but Chinnor pulled a goal back before half-time when a defender directed a corner into her own net.
Chinnor threw players forward after the break in an attempt to claw their way back into the match and hopes of a comeback were restored when Jo Taylor converted a chance.
But the home side were unable to add to their tally, leaving them five points off the pace with one match to go.
Banbury United won the Under 13 League Cup, narrowly edging Kidlington 1-0 in a closely contested match which was decided by Lucy Harrison’s strike.
