Ryan Brooks scored a late winner as Premier Division leaders Ardley United beat Tytherington Rocks 1-0 at home in the quarter-finals of the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup.
Fielding a much-changed side against the newly-crowned Division 1 West champions, Ardley struggled to make an impact.
And they had a lucky escape in the first half when Dale Emery hit the bar.
After the break, Ardley were grateful to Tommy Kinch who made a goalline clearance from Justin Bishop.
Ardley came more into the contest and scored the winner on 80 minutes when Brooks’s well-struck shot deflected past Kevin Freeman in the Tytherington goal.
Ardley then held on with little difficulty.
