Wantage Town’s Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division title hope suffered a blow as they went down to a surprise 1-0 defeat at Flackwell Heath.

The result means that Wantage stay a point behind Ardley United, though they have a game in hand on Kevin Brock’s table-toppers, who were in cup action.

Wantage, who gave Anaclet Odhiambo his debut, started strongly, with Ben McCready seeing his 25-yard shot rebound off the bar.

Mark James had a goal chalked off, while Tom Melledew and Tom Butler had shots saved.

Wantage continued to press in the second half, but they failed to take their chances.

And they paid the price five minutes from time when Stuart Glynn fired in the winner after a mistake byWantage keeper Gareth Tucker.
