SEB Jewell says London Welsh owe London Scottish a performance when they meet in the Greene King IPA Championship tomorrow.

Jewell, who starts at full back in the battle of the Exiles at Richmond Athletic Ground, admits Welsh have been far from impressive against their rivals this campaign.

Scottish beat Welsh 32-26 in the British & Irish Cup and 13-5 in a televised league game before the Oxford-based side managed to edge their second cup clash 21-18.

While any sort of victory will guarantee a play-off spot, Jewell (pictured) says they want to do it in style.

“We have been very frustrated with the way we have played against them,” he said.

“We were well beaten in front of the Sky cameras, which wasn’t the best.

“They out-thought us and we didn’t adapt.

“We owe them a performance. That’s been the main focus this week.

“We have focused a lot more on the analysis side.”

Jewell expects another tough test from their fifth-placed opponents tomorrow.

But he added: “If we can beat London Scottish this weekend, it will knock them further out of the promotion race as well.”

Although they didn’t hit the heights against Bedford last Sunday, Welsh are on a six-match winning streak.

“I think we are going in the right direction,” said Jewell.

“There is still a lot we can do better at.

“Now we are getting towards the business end of the season, we need to step it up.”

Welsh have had their training load reduced to keep fresh this week and Jewell fells staying alert is vital.

“It’s a mental thing as much as a physical thing,” he said.

“As long as we can get our heads in the right place, we should be fine.”

Jewell was sidelined by shoulder and back problems, but is fine now as Welsh’s campaign reaches its crucial point.

“I am really enjoying this season, it has been a good experience to play at 15,” he said.
