WINDRUSH Valley’s Jimmy Doran, 12, is through to the quarter-finals of the England Schoolboy Championship after a fine victory against Rayleigh’s Luke Brooks.
Both boxers produced an accomplished display of boxing, but Doran’s punching accuracy was enough to take the 40kg contest on points.
He faces Michael Dunn (West Ham) at Feltham Community College tomorrow in the last four.
Jordan Davis, 12, and Lewis Townsend, 16, both from Windrush, travelled to Reading for bouts against the local club.
Davis boxed well with some accurate body punches to beat John Cooke.
Townsend faced Gage Nunn in an explosive encounter, but held his nerve against an awkward rival to take the judges’ decision on points.
