Jimmy Deabill hit the winner as Wantage Town moved within a point of Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division leaders Ardley United with a 3-2 home win against Kidlington on Saturday.

A Steve Davis brace put the hosts 2-0 up in nine minutes.

He opened his account when his fourth-minute corner caught in the wind before going over Matt Hyslop in the Kidlington goal into the net.

Davis made it 2-0 when he flicked in Ben McCready’s long throw.

But Kidlington recovered their nerve to claw one back on 13 minutes through Lewis Coyle’s penalty after Stuart Cattell handled.

The visitors were level on 47 minutes when Tom Boxer headed in at a corner.

But KIdlington’s hopes of an incredible turnaround ended on 65 minutes when former striker Deabill fired home the winner for Wantage who held on for victory.

Ardley, who have played two more games than Wantage, could drew 1-1 at Highworth Town.

Ardley went ahead on two minutes when Callum Convey curled a free-kick around the wall from the edge of the penalty area.

But they failed to build on it and were punished when TJ Bohane equalised on 73 minutes.

Ardley piled forward, but Highworth held on to deny them. Shrivenham lost 2-0 at Ascot United, a David Hancock strike and an own goal made up the hosts’ tally.

Abingdon United bagged their first victory in ten games with a 2-1 win at Bracknell Town, James Organ hitting a late winner.

Kieren Cochrane levelled for Abingdon on 44 minutes after Sam Barratt put the hosts ahead on 37 minutes. But Organ won it for the visitors.

Luke Ricketts scored a four-timer as Thame United’s thrashed Abingdon Town 7-0 away from home.

Dan West and Nik Rhodes strikes, plus an own goal sealed it.

Jozef Fullerton hit a treble as North Leigh United stormed to a 6-0 win at home to Old Woodstock Town in Division 1 West.

Goals from Alfie Saunders, George Seacole and Will Smalldon secured the victory.

Easington Sports beat Carterton 2-0 at home, with goals from Andrew Stidder (penalty) and Craig Pearman.

Hook Norton let the lead slip as they drew 1-1 at Tuffley Rovers.

Jason Tillcock put Hooky ahead, only for Shayne Bradley to level.

Paul Hedger had a penalty saved as Headington Amateurs lost 4-1 at Maidenhead United Res in Division 1 East.

Trailing to goals from Nortel Nortey and Jonathan Constant, Hedger was denied from the spot by Giuseppe Di-Puma.

Isaac Osei-Tutu made it 3-0, before Ben Green cut the deficit.

Headington keeper Steve Sky-rme saved Reside Coxi-Sabastiao penalty, before Lanre Azeez hit Maidenhead’s fourth goal.
