WALLINGFORD won back-to-back away games for the first time in more than three years with a 21-15 success at Milton Keynes.
The visitors went 8-0 ahead after scrum half Phil Dawes kicked a penalty and No 8 Jermaine Webster grabbed a pushover try.
Milton Keynes replied with a long-range penalty and wasted chances to score at least two tries, although Wallingford wing Ralph Smith did well in defence.
The hosts finally breached Wallingford’s rearguard with a converted try just before the break, but Dawes’s second penalty made it 11-10 after the resumption.
Smith was tripped as he hacked ahead to score, with the visitors awarded a penalty try converted by Dawes.
Dawes’s third penalty gave Wallingford breathing space, and although Milton Keynes bagged a late try, it was not enough.
Alchester lost 34-9 at Royal Wootton Bassett, despite trailing just 10-9 at half-time.
Tom Miles kept the visitors in touch with three first-half penalties, but Wootton came on strong after that.
