Good afternoon and welcome to Spotland on a big afternoon for Oxford United.

They start the day fourth and face Rochdale, who leapt into the automatic promotion places at United's expense a week ago.

I'm here for the next four hours to guide you through the build-up, action and reaction, but as always your input is encouraged.

Nice playing pitch, only trouble we did not play!!! All those options up front, just could NOT score. We were poor. It could be an interesting Week. Perhaps the Chairman might move on the Manager front?

It is unbelievable how little ambition there is from the Chairman an manager - IL claimed after the game that being Div 1 next year isnt everything and seems to be happy with play-offs. It truly then is a lottery and in all probability we dont go up - we certainly dont have the best recent form from other teams who are grinding wins (Plymouth etc). Its not every year that auto-promotion is within reach (if we had not conceded late goals (Manager error) we would still be top 3) and the fact that cash wasnt made available to keep people or bring people in, including a new manager when he had enough games to make an impact , shows IL lack of ambition and willingness to invest for the final push. We might go another 3 years before getting so close to auto-promotion, and how many millions of pounds will fans have shelled out at the turnstiles during that time?- there isnt even any indication whether we can afford to keep players or even sign any of the impressive loanees or strengthen our squad for next year if we do go up. ML was a good player for Oxford an when he played 4 centre forwards against Mansfield I finally thought he had taken the bull by the horns and used our massively talented attack to crush teams - then what? We win 3-0 and havent seen the same line-up since! Its like the failed England approach that has left everyone frustrated for 45 years - always trying to adapt to the style of your opponents and fudge your way through the season, rather than take some chances and terrify the opposition using your assets (forwards) Our top scorer was on the bench today, Kitson was not picked, and we are all told it will be alright on the night as we have a number of experienced injured payers returning - all are going to be short of fitness and match practice when they come back. IMO on a game like today, a point might have been good - but why not play a system which is massively intimidating with all the strikers on - if they score 2 or 3 the defence looks after the rest and we might take all 3. Absolutely clueless and mind-boggling selection ML and frankly a chairman who doesnt have the same passion for the club by sticking with a cheap option for manager and shows a lock of ambition...easy to work out why attendances are down with so little belief from the top. There needs to be a big shake up at Oxford. A commitment from the Chairman who MUST outline what he is going to do to get us up and tells us how much cash is going to be available to keep us up - otherwise we get hammered every match next year using youth development players. If this Chairman cant find funding to get us back to the heady heights of Jim Smith days, step down now. Frankly I would rather have someone like Tan.
