Didcot's Ben Watson boosted his chances of competing in this year’s Commonwealth Games by landing a title at the English Championships in Birmingham.
The 23-year-old member of the St Birinus Club captured the 105kg bodyweight crown with a personal best performance at the Harry Mitchell Leisure Centre, Smethwick.
Watson snatched a total of 155kg and followed that with a clean and jerk of 180kg for a total of 335kg.
These lifts easily surpassed the Commonwealth Games qualifying standard of 310kg.
Watson faces one more hurdle in his attempt to compete at Glasgow this summer, with the English team for the Games selected after the British Championships in May.
