FIONA Bunn maintained her strong recent form with a top-20 placing in the Saucony English National Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park, Nottingham.

The Abingdon athlete finished 17th in the under 15 girls’ race over 4km, clocking 16mins 9secs.

Oxford City's Megan Humphreys came 25th in the under 17 girls' event, recording 19.26 for a 5km course.

Abingdon's Nick Wiltshire (11.53) was 38th in the 3km under 13 boys’ race.

Oxford City’s Gemma Bridge was the county’s leading performer at senior level.

Bridge finished 60th in the ladies’ event, clocking 32.00 for the 8km course.

Jonny Cornish (Hercules Wimbledon) was the only member of Oxon’s men’s team selected for the Inter-Counties Championships to compete at Wollaton Park.

Cornish, from Wantage, came 307th, completing the 12km course in 42.37.

RADLEY’S Rose Webb defied 60mph winds to win a silver medal at the British Masters 10-mile road championships in Maryport, Cumbria.

Webb finished second in the over 65 ladies’ category after clocking 1hr 50mins 46secs.

Run over an undulating course, athletes battled against rain and a very strong headwind for most of the second half of the race.

THE under 15 girls were Oxfordshire’s leading performers with a third-place finish in the south east regional sportshall finals at Burgess Hill.

Oxon’s under 13 boys came fourth, with their under 13 girls and under 15 boys fifth.
