Amateur rider Sam Waley-Cohen is looking for Long Run to return to form when he tackles the Ivan Straker Memorial Chase (3.55) at Kelso today.
The 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero, owned by Waley-Cohen’s father, Robert, who lives at Edgehill, near Banbury, faces three rivals headed by Knockara Beau in the Class 2 contest.
And Sam said: “Long Run seems very well, so we go there looking to have a good run round and hopefully see him bounce back to somewhere near the form he showed at the end of last season.”
Aston Rowant trainer Alan Hill runs Harbour Court after all in the CGA Foxhunter Trial Open Hunters’ Chase (4.25).
He said: “This is his Cheltenham prep. We keep losing point-to-points and I felt this was a good opportunity to get a run into him on some decent ground.”
