But they were made to battle for a 6-4 win at British Rail – a result which sees them move to within six points of top spot, having played a game more.
Jeff Rigby led the way with a fine maximum, but it was left to Tony Gorman and Jon Bayliss to win the doubles and seal the win.
In Division 2, Vikings B saw off main rivals Forum D 6-4 to protect their top spot.
Nick Langley won twice for the visitors, but Markus Wagner’s maximum proved crucial.
There was a one-sided derby match in Division 3 as Vikings D beat Vikings E 8-2.
Huw Morgan and Thomas Bowden did the bulk of the work with a maximum apiece, but Tatiana Bachkirova’s win ensured maximum points.
