Oxford Mail Girls League leaders Kidlington struck a crucial blow in the race for the Under 14 title with a 6-1 win at fellow challengers Benson United.

A goal from Amy Loveridge gave the home side something to cheer about, but it was Kidlington’s day as they repeatedly capitalised on defensive errors with Lucy Durham scoring a hat-trick.

Milly Simmonds bagged a brace and Abi Haynes also got among the goals.

But Carterton Town were unable to prevent second-placed Swindon Spitfires from leapfrogging Benson into second, as they slipped to a 7-0 home defeat.

Kate Donovan scored four and Helena Butcher hit three goals for Spitfires.

Rachel Newman scored a treble as Stonesfield Strikers stormed to a 6-0 win at Carterton Town in the Under 15 League.

Stonesfield started the stronger, with Rachel Everett firing wide before they took the lead.

Carterton failed to deal with a corner and Martha French fired home from the edge of the area.

They doubled the lead when Rachel Newman headed home a dangerous cross from Lydia Holloway for a 3-0 lead.

Stonesfield grabbed a fourth goal when Holloway picked out French from a corner, who skilfully half-volleyed the ball from 20 yards.

The visitors scored No 5 just before half time when Newman scored her second.

After the break, Newman completed her treble after good work from Holloway and Ellie Hill to seal the emphatic victory.

League leaders Summertown Stars were 4-1 winners at Kingham All Blacks thanks to a brace from Jessica Byles and goals from Flora Kempton and Ella Bott.

Phoebe Mitchell pulled a goal back for the All Blacks in the second half but they were unable to stop Summertown from taking the points.

Sinead Newman struck twice in the second half to give Tower Hill Vixens a 3-0 win at Carterton Town in the Under 11 league.

Georgia Smith put the visitors ahead before the break, but despite the best efforts of home goalkeeper Charlie Noble there was to be no denying Newman or Tower Hill.
