Didcot Town joint boss Ian Concannon has praised the side’s character after their 4-2 midweek win at Swindon Supermarine and called for more of the same at Evesham United tomorrow.
Trailing 2-0, they fought back for victory against the Calor League Division 1 South & West play-off contenders.
Concannon and co-boss Jamie Heapy had been looking for a reaction after last weekend’s 4-1 home drubbing by Stratford Town.
“No one was happy about Saturday and we did make changes like we said we would,” said Concannon.
“We were delighted by the response. “It’s easy to criticise after you have lost, so deserve all the plaudits.
“It was no fluke. I thought it was our best performance of the season.”
Concannon added: “I have played there five times and lost every time, so it was pleasing to get a win. We now have to take that on to Evesham.”
Cameron Abbassi is out with a hamstring injury.
North Leigh manager Mark Gee says he will have no qualms selecting keeper Kane Lewis, when they host Thatcham Town, should their on-loan Forest Green stopper Adam McHugh fail a fitness test.
McHugh was injured training with his parent club, so reserves’ keeper Kane, 17, played in Tuesday’s 2-1 win against Bishops Cleeve as they won for the first time in nine games.
Gee said: “He made his debut at Didcot and did well again on Tuesday.
“When I phoned, he had just failed his driving test, so he was delighted to play.”
He added: “It was nice to get the three points. We had almost forgotten what it was like to win.”
Meanwhile, Banbury United host Bideford in the Premier Division.
