Didcot Town are set to give a debut to keeper James Foster when they take on Stratford Town in Calor League Division 1 South & West tomorrow.

With first-choice keeper Alex Williams at a wedding and back-up Keiran Beesley suspended, Didcot joint boss Ian Concannon snapped him up from Hungerford Town.

And, subject to the paperwork going through, Foster will make his bow alongside fellow new signings Matt Woodley and Tom Franklin.

“I know all about James from his time at Abingdon United,” said Concannon.

“He’s been on our radar for some time. With Alex and Kieran unavailable we had to act quickly.”

Having had their last two fixtures waterlogged off, Concannon said the players were itching to play again.”

He added: “We’ve got competition for places for the first time since we arrived here, so people who aren’t performing will find themselves out of the side.”

North Leigh manager Mark Gee says he wants more from his squad as they look to end a run of six successive defeats away to Godalming.

“If players aren’t in the starting line-up, they should not get despondent, but when they come on they have to show me why they should keep their places.

“The difference between now and when we had the good run , is that people were having an impact off the bench.

“At the moment, the subs are not doing any better than the players they are replacing.

“It’s a squad game and I want more from the people who aren’t starting.” It has been switched to Guildford as Godalming’s pitch is waterlogged.

Banbury United boss Edwin Stein has admitted bringing Wayne Blossom back into the team was a mistake.

The defender returned from a ban at Frome on Wednesday night, where Banbury lost 3-2.

“Defensively we were very poor,” said Stein. “Without our keeper Kwame Fordah playing so well it could have been a lot worse.

“I changed the back four because I thought the experience of Wayne would count, but maybe I brought him back too early and that’s down to me.”

Banbury give a late test to Ade Talabi (back problem) ahead of the Premier Division trip to Poole Town.

Stein confirmed Albi Skendi was still at the club, despite rumours he had left after the striker’s attitude was questioned by the manager.

He added: “We haven’t said goodbye. We have talked and the ball is in his court.”
