Oxford City boss Mike Ford says loan signing Kayden Jackson has to put in the hard graft or risk losing his first-team place.

Ford said Jackson, 20, who was in sensational form in his first month after joining the Skril North outfit from Sky Bet League One side Swindon Town, had slipped off the pace.

And with a full squad to choose from, apart from the injured Steve Basham, Ford hinted he could make changes for tomorrow’s trip to Colwyn Bay.

A pitch inspection will be held at the North Wales club this afternoon and Ford rates the prospects of the clash going ahead as 50-50.

“Kayden has gone off the boil in his second month,” said Ford. “So he needs to work a lot harder than he has been doing.

“I think he’s a bit too comfortable and he’s got to work hard or someone will take his place.

“Mike Symons wasn’t available for the Solihull game, but he’s back again for Colwyn Bay. He’s been working really hard in training.”

Colwyn boss Frank Sinclair will receive the manager-of-the-month award after winning all five games in December, but Ford doesn’t think it will prove a distraction.

Ford added: “I don’t think it will have a bearing. But full credit to him. He has shown he is better than the rest of us.

“It will probably be mentioned in their dressing room, but we’ll be going all out to win.

“They have won six out of six. Last time we played them they worked hard and were well organised and he’s instilled a winning mentality in his players.

“So we are expecting another tough game.”
