DORCHESTER took full advantage of their rivals’ inactivity as they moved to within a point of the North Berks League Division 1 summit with a 3-2 win at home to Wallingford Town, writes PHIL ANNETS.

The game was one of only three to go ahead on Saturday as the wet weather decimated the schedule.

Joe Dixon, Jamie Fleet and Ben Curtis were all on target for the hosts.

But strikes from Ashley Searle and Mike Gibbons for the strugglers ensured a tense finish to the game.

Matt Woodside’s double gave Hanney United a 2-0 win at Division 3 leaders Westminster.

It was a missed opportunity for the home side, who would have gone five points clear with victory.

Charlie Lee smashed a hat-trick as hosts Wallingford Town Res ended Division 5 leaders Uffington United’s unbeaten run with an eventful 6-4 victory.

Paul Powell, Matt Leach and Martin Dawson also notched for Wallingford, who had Alijandro Rodriguez and Carl Fisher red carded late on.

Uffington, who remain in control with a five-point lead and a game in hand over Wallingford, replied with a George Heath brace, along with goals from Mark Jones and Garry Haines.
