Oxford Hawks swept all before them in the National League Indoor Division 2 North tournament at Worcester over the weekend.

Hawks won all five of their matches and now travel to Nottingham on January 18-19 to compete in the play-offs for Division 1.

In their first match, Hawks overcame Liverpool 7-2 with notable performances from Lex Thomas and Bex Oakes, and key goals from drag-flicks by Takara Haines.

Hawks then had a short wait before facing a well-drilled Stourport side.

After conceding an early goal, the Oxford side were thankful to 17-year-old Briony Hearn for some excellent goalline clearances as they edged to a 6-5 victory.

After an overnight stay, the team were fresh for their toughest match of the tournament against the Army. Both teams were unbeaten from the previous day.

Becky Hibbert and Becky Odlin put Hawks 2-0 up. The Army levelled before the break, but the goal of the tournament from Hearn helped Hawks to a 5-3 victory.

Lichfield were dispatched 8-2, Hawks’ 15-year-old goalkeeper Olivia Clark starring with an early penalty save. Both Hibbert and Thomas notched hat-tricks.

The final game was a winner-takes-all tie against Gloucester, who went 2-1 up before Hawks hit back with goals from Thomas and Henri Gordon (2) to cap a memorable weekend.
