Oxford City manager Mike Ford expressed his dismay after seeing his side lose 2-0 at home to Solihull Moors.

The defeat came just 48 hours after a vital 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Gloucester, and with results elsewhere going against them, City are once again looking over their shoulders at the relegation zone.

“That’s football, isn’t it?” said Ford. “You have a result, positive or negative, and then you’ve got another one to try and get some points out of.

“We are not in this position because we are brilliant every week.

“We’re in this position because I don’t know what I’m going to get from them from one week to the next.”

And although Ford admitted that an in-form Solihull side were always going to be a tough proposition, he felt his players had not performed at the level he expected.

“I’ve expressed my displeasure to the players,” he said. “That was a big ask for us to beat a top-two side and we’ve narrowly been beaten by the best team in the division.

“But for me it’s always about us and we just didn’t contribute enough to the game in the first half.”
