ASA Hall’s future remains up in the air ahead of his loan at Oxford United expiring next week.

The midfielder, who scored in the 3-2 Boxing Day defeat to Plymouth, is due to go back to Shrewsbury after the trip to Newport County on New Year’s Day.

With three players out injured until February, they can ill-afford to lose another player, but the Shrews want United to pay a greater share of Hall’s wages if they are going to allow an extension.

U’s boss Chris Wilder is waiting to find out whether the two clubs can reach an agreement, but is expecting news soon.

He said: “I think there will be a decision to be made in the next week.

“If nothing gets done then we’ll go with what we’ve got for the FA Cup (next Saturday), which buys us a bit more time.

“I should imagine the numbers would have to be looked at up to the Portsmouth game (on January 11).”
